SMU Student Foundation is excited to announce the fourth ever Family Weekend Charity Project. This year, we invite SMU Families to donate items for Family Gateway.
Family Gateway's mission is to lead "the Dallas community to end child homelessness by providing innovative and comprehensive housing, social, and educational services to homeless children and their families." Family Gateway provides transitional housing to homeless families with children, while also providing the family with other services to help them get back on their feet. Believing education is the key to ending the generational cycle of homelessness, Family Gateway keeps families together and empowers homeless families to embrace a life of hope and promise. With hundreds of families on campus for Family Weekend, we can donate enough items to make a huge difference in the lives of these families in need of help.
Below are some of the items, though not all, that Family Gateway is in need of. We invite you to bring any items to Family Weekend with you to drop off in support of Family Gateway:
Boxes will be located throughout the Hughes-Trigg Student Center and other locations for the duration of Family Weekend. If you don't have an opportunity to travel with these items or purchase them in Dallas, we invite you to bring items like soap and shampoo which can be found in your hotel room during your stay.
